Motorola to Announce New Flagship Phones on July 28

Motorola recently sent out email invitations to an event on July 28, to be held in New York City and London. It is possible that the company will be launching its flagship smartphones, namely the Moto X and the Moto G, during the event.

This speculation comes after recent leaks have been circulating about Motorola's next flagship phones, their rumored designs and specifications.

The invitation had the following text: "Your relationship is about to change," according to Tech Times. The invite also indicated the date and time of the event, which is set to livestream at 9 a.m. EST. What most reports noted however is how the invite was signed with "XGX, Moto" instead of the usual "XOXO," which hints at the two lines of phones of the company, the Moto X and the Moto G.

The report also said that the company may be jumping on the hype that recent leaks have created, scheduling a launch event just when many consumers have become curious about what they have in store.

The company usually releases new phones in August or September every year, for the past two years, so this year may not be any different.

As to the number of smartphones they will introduce, reports are mixed with some saying it will be as many as four handsets. A report said that Motorola will refresh the Moto X and the Moto G, and may also introduce two new Droid branded smartphones. Droid phones are made exclusively for partner U.S. carriers such as Verizon. There is another report that said that the Moto 360 may also get a new model.

Most of the recent leaks focused on the phones' design and customization options. For example, one leak pointed to a wide variety of back covers that one can have with the Moto X, the Moto G and the Moto 360 using Motorola's Moto Maker, a customization feature that allows consumers to order a highly personalized phone.
