Marco Andretti led his team by completing the 2.5-mile oval with a fast lap of 228.978 mph.

The team of Andretti Autosport drivers put on an impressive performance on Monday, during the Indianapolis 500 practice run.

Held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Marco Andretti led his team by completing the 2.5-mile oval with a fast lap of 228.978 mph. According to a report by the Daily Mail, the Andretti team swept the top four spots at the said run.

Yet, despite his notable showing during the Indy 500 practice, Andretti says it is still way too early to be celebrating anything, given the unpredictable scenarios of the weeks to come.

"It's definitely too early to get confident or to read into things. Today is a picture perfect day and next week it's going to be like 83 or 84 (degrees) and that will change things completely, so you can't read too much into this at all,' Andretti said.

Andretti also noted that the team is also adjusting to the possible weather situation, where it was predicted that there would be 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday. In another report by Motorsport.com, Chip Ganassi Racing representative Scott Dixon was able narrowly top Andretti's time with 226.835 mph.

Charlie Kimball, another Ganassi driver, finished seventh place while Graham Rahal finished eighth, representing Rahal Letterman Lanigan-Honda. For his part, Alexander Rossi was satisfied with his showing, despite admitting that he was in the dark, as far as his expectations for the run goes.

"This morning was definitely eye-opening in terms of not having any kind of comparison to a place like this," Rossi said in a report by Indy Star. But for Marco Andretti, Rossi's relative inexperience would not be that much of a factor, as he lauds his teammate for being a quick learner.

"To be honest, (Rossi) did a better job than the rest of us last weekend," Rossi said. "I was following him last week."
