'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Cast News, Spoilers: Grace Gummer Joins Cast; Rami Malek Teases Season 2
Fans of the award-winning drama-thriller "Mr. Robot" may recognize a familiar face when the series returns for its second season later this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grace Gummer, who appeared in "The Newsroom," will be joining the cast in Season 2 as an FBI agent.
Dominique "Dom" DiPierro, Gummer's character, is an FBI field agent who will be looking into the Evil Corp Hack that took place in Season 1.
Gummer's TV credits include "Extant," "American Horror Story," "Paloma," and "Zero Hour." She has also starred in films such as "Frances Ha" (2012), "The Homesman" (2014), "Learning to Drive" (2014), and "Jenny's Wedding" (2015). Gummer is set to play the role of Nora Ephron in the Amazon drama "Good Girls Revolt" and will appear in the upcoming HBO TV-movie "Confirmation" alongside Kerry Washington.
Meanwhile, Rami Malek, who plays security engineer Elliot Alderson in "Mr. Robot," recently opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the show's second season. Speaking from EW's Screen Actors Guild Awards party, Malek revealed that there will be a "fallout" from the events in Season 1 and said that it is "sad" and "disturbing" how the show has been able to anticipate real-life events that have been occurring all over the world.
"I assume that that will continue to happen," Malek said, "but you can never predict the future and how distressful it might be, so as much as I think we have the ability to capture that, I hope that we don't, but that would be naive."
The actor also said that filming for the show's second season has not started, but that the cast had recently gathered to read through some of the second season. Malek also revealed that he had been consulting with the show's psychologist in preparation for the forthcoming season, which, he said, will "delve much more into the psychosis and his mental illness this year."
The second season of "Mr. Robot" is expected to air in the summer.
