'Mr. Robot' season 2 plot news: Creator Sam Esmail shares plans for upcoming season

With the highly acclaimed season 1 finale of the hit series "Mr. Robot," fans have been excited for news on its sophomore season.

It was reported that the upcoming season will premiere on the USA Network by the middle of next year. There are speculations that it will remain in its time slot due to positive ratings and attention. The second season, however, is expected to have challenges of its own. The main question for the series is how they plan to continue surprising audiences for the episodes to come. It was evident in the first season that viewers have to constantly figure out whether to trust Elliot on his narration or not. Also, it will be a wonder on how the writers will sustain several characters now that much has been revealed in the first season.

An example of this is the character of White Rose and its connection to the Evil Corp. It questioned what side of the fight the character is standing and what is in store for the episodes to come. Furthermore, an important question is how Elliot will move forward in the story. Fans have been wondering what he plans to do with "fsociety."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of the series, Sam Esmail, shared what to expect from the season to come. He said, "I've always said that the first season was the first act of my feature, so this is what I meant. I wanted the story of Mr. Robot to be Elliot actually accomplishing his goal, setting the world into chaos. What would happen to society if something like this occurred where, basically, if the consumer debt industry were to be erased? What are the economics of that? What would the world look like? Would there be a revolution? Would governments take over? Would businesses take over? To me, that canvas was something I was interested in exploring so, for me, that's what that last scene sets up. We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season."

Mr. Robot is expected to return with its second season on July 2016.
