'Mr. Robot' Season 3: Elliot, Edward to Reach an Impasse

Elliot (Rami Malek) is bound to accept that Edward (Christian Slater) is not going anywhere in the upcoming season of "Mr. Robot."

According to IB Times AU, the hacker's failure to get rid of the memory of his father is because Edward is an "inextricable" part of his psyche. In the past seasons, Elliot tried hard to escape from his hallucinations. It was a major moment when he realized that the Mr. Robot who was trying to control him was a representation of the dad he lost. When Edward pushed Elliot to do more evil things, the latter fought against it. He continued to see his court-appointed therapist, Krista (Gloria Reuben). A leaked script for season 3 reveals that Krista will return to help him again.

In August, series creator Sam Esmail shared that an impasse will take place between Elliot and Edward. The hacker has come a long way, considering how his mental illness broke him as a person. Esmail said that Elliot's dissociative identity disorder could have crippled anyone. The downward spiral is inevitable. Fortunately for the character, he found Leon (Joey Bada$$), the friend who let him see that there was a light at the end of the dark, dreary tunnel.

"That's what Elliot has to do: see that vision of the future he wants that's worth going through all of this for. Not only does he want to live and continue, but he realizes that fighting Mr. Robot is a moot point and an impasse. Those two things have to be realized for Elliot to go to the next step," Esmail said, according to Deadline.

Season 3 will see Elliot looking for answers. He needs to find out why Angela (Portia Doubleday) betrayed him by joining the Dark Army. Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) also told him that the second phase of the attack against E Corp was happening. Elliot was shot when he said he had no intention of joining the cause. Meanwhile, some viewers are also looking forward to seeing the hacker come face to face with the Dark Army's mysterious operative, Whiterose (BD Wong).

"Mr. Robot" season 3 is expected to air sometime this year.
