'Mr. Robot' Season 3: Will Elliot and Leon's Friendship Continue?
Elliot (Rami Malek) is bound to meet his one-time savior, Leon (Joey Bada$$), again in the upcoming season of "Mr. Robot."
Series creator Sam Esmail previously told Variety that Leon's storyline would be discussed more in the new installment. Leon was the one who stopped four men from raping Elliot. The hacker owes his life to the man he considers his friend. He is someone who Elliot trusts in the show. They frequently spend time together. It was Leon who made Elliot realize that there is still hope inside him. However, viewers learned during the finale that Leon is actually an operative for the Dark Army.
Once Elliot learns the truth about Leon, can their friendship survive the hurdle? It will be a huge betrayal for him since the Dark Army is no friend to the hacker.

According to Esmail, it was imperative for the fans to understand the truth before jumping into season 3. The same goes with the revelation concerning Mobley (Azhar Khan) and Trenton (Sunita Mani) during the last minutes of the finale. The two members of fsociety were talking about the damage that was done due to the 5/9 hack. Viewers can expect major upheavals happening because of these three characters.
"We wanted to resolve all of the mysteries we'd been setting up all season, Trenton and Mobley their whereabouts being one of them. We find out they have gotten away, or so they think. And here comes Leon, who's definitely an agent of the Dark Army. His intentions remain to be seen. We'll definitely get into it in the third season," Esmail teased in an interview with Variety.
Meanwhile, IB Times AU reports that Elliot will continue to deal with Edward (Christian Slater) in the next installment. There is no way his hallucinations will be gone soon. Elliot is sick. Although he realizes that Edward is just a figment of his imagination, he cannot find the courage to banish him. Elliot will still see his psychiatrist, Krista (Gloria Reuben), hoping for some sort of miracle.
"Mr. Robot" season 3 is expected to air sometime this year.
