Naked Robber Caught by Police Dog (VIDEO)
A naked man who stole a Hummer limousine at gunpoint and then took police on a wild chase around the suburbs of southern California has been apprehended by a police dog.
The unidentified man was fully dressed when he took the Hummer limousine from its driver at gunpoint, according to police in Irvine.
The victim called 911 around 8 p.m. after which a late night car chase ensued through the nearby suburb of Whittier.
Police and the California Highway Patrol used cars and a helicopter to track the giant vehicle through residential streets.
Lt. Julia Engen, Irvine police spokeswoman said, “We cannot tell you why he was not wearing clothes. All we know is that he was wearing them at the original crime so took them off along the way,” according to KABC-TV in Los Angeles.
The video shows the vehicle come to a stop, then the suspect quickly exits the vehicle. An officer tracking the suspect can be heard saying, “He’s bailed,” as he watches the suspect leave the truck.
The officer is then heard as he observes the man from a helicopter camera saying shockingly, “He’s naked!”
Waving his arms, the alleged thief sprinted through a residential area but was promptly captured by a police dog, who tackled him to the ground.
The police canine managed to hold the man long enough until two officers restrained him and took him away.
The chase ended at 9:45 p.m. when the driver was taken into custody near Valley View Avenue and Alondra Boulevard in Los Angeles County.
Lt. Engen added the man is still in custody at an Orange County jail.
