Nancy Pelosi Secret Service Remarks: 'Disgusting'
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has spoken out about the recent Secret Service prostitution scandal, calling the incident "every D-word you can think of."
Nancy Pelosi is the highest-ranking woman ever elected to office in the United States, and according to her the recent Secret Service scandal is a complete "disgrace."
"It's a stunning thing. It's actually disgusting. There has to be an investigation to see how this could have happened and those responsible should have to pay a price," Pelosi said. "Those people who are responsible have brought disgrace and it's disgusting."
Pelosi admitted that she had not been briefed on the scandal, but expressed hope that it was an isolated incident.
"I hope it is limited to what we see in the press now and not indicative of something else, but it's hard to understand how such a thing could happen," she said.
Eleven Secret Service agents were sent home from Cartagena, on Colombia's Caribbean coast last week as President Obama arrived to the Summit of the Americas. Initial reports stated that the Secret Service agents had been out for a night of partying and alleged that at least some of the agents brought prostitutes back to the hotel.
Of those agents involved, three have left their positions. One supervisor was forced to retire, a second will be fired with cause, and a third agent, who was not a supervisor, has chosen to resign.
"I don't see how those who are involved in this should be able to continue with their work," she said. "Disgusting, disconcerting, every D-word you can think of. But it is nonetheless something that needs to be looked at right away, because the security of the president is immediate and that can't be put on a back burner. So I think that those responsible should report what they know, and if that's not satisfactory then we reserve the right to go forward on it."
