Nanny Caught on Camera Hitting 5-Month-Old Baby, Arrested for 'Endangering Child' (VIDEO)

A New York nanny has been caught on camera slapping a baby across the face numerous times, in video footage that has shocked the nation.

The incident took place in Staten Island inside the family's home where 52 year old nanny, Mamura Nasirova, was supposed to be taking care of the five month old baby and her older sibling.

However, the video shows the nanny hitting the baby numerous times across the face as well as later shaking the baby and hitting her legs.

The video has shocked viewers and has since gone viral on video sharing website YouTube, with most comments strongly condemning the nanny's horrendous actions.

In the video the nanny can be seen pulling a bottle out of the baby's mouth and slapping her across the face a number of times, as the baby, clearly distressed, screams and cries. The abuse was carried out right in front of the baby's apparent older sibling, also a young toddler, who can be seen sitting on the couch nearby.

However, the abuse continues after the nanny tries to force the bottle back to the baby. But the baby, obviously in a great deal of distress now, refuses the bottle, which only makes the nanny more angry and violent.

When the tiny baby refuses the bottle the nanny shakes her and begins to slap her legs in scenes viewers have described as "disturbing" and "horrific."

The video camera was set up in the house after the family became suspicious of the nanny. However, they did not have any conclusive evidence of wrongdoing by the nanny and so thought they would place a hidden camera in their front room and see whether their suspicions were justified rather than acting prematurely.

However, what they witnessed must have been even more shocking that what they had expected, as had they suspected such abuse was happening they would not have let the nanny anywhere near their defenseless baby.

The camera, hidden in a carbon monoxide detector in the living room, was relaying the video footage to the baby's mother who had gone out. Reports have said that as soon as she saw the abuse, the mother rushed home frantically to confront the nanny.

Once she got her baby safe, the family alerted police and posted the video online.

The nanny was arrested on Sunday at 6:15 p.m. ET at the family's home. She did not go quietly however, and showed little remorse for her actions, as she fought with cops as they tried put handcuffs on her, according to police.

The nanny has since been charged with "endangering the welfare of a child" and "resisting arrest."
