'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date News: May Be Delayed Over Issues with Showrunner
"Narcos" season 2's release date may be delayed over a problem with its showrunner, who decided to drop the series.
Deadline reports that "Narcos" showrunner Adam Fierro has dropped the project because his contract has already come to an end. The crime series was originally slated for an Aug. 2, 2016 release, but the issue may affect the show's schedule and cause a delay in its air date, according to Christian Today.
Earlier reports pointed to speculations that producers will cancel "Narcos" season 2 due to its behind-the-scene issues. However, pulling the plug on the show seems unlikely because production has already started, Youth Health Mag reports.
Entertainment Weekly explains that Fierro was supposed to wrap up his work on the series after taking Chris Brancato's place. Jose Padilha and Eric Newman are set to return as the executive producers who will head the show's writers, the report details.
The troubles of "Narcos" do not end there because the story line flow is also rumored to be in jeopardy. Season 1 tackled a whole decade of events in Pablo Escobar's journey. However, season 2 will only have a short time frame to work on. The next season will have to focus on the time that Escobar escaped from La Catedral in 1992 up to his death in 1993, the report relays.
"Narcos" is an American crime drama series based on the true story of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and his transactions with drug dealers, control enforcers, and lords in Colombia. Wagner Moura, who plays the main character, was nominated for Best Actor in a Television Drama Series for the Golden Globe Awards. The show itself bagged a nomination for Best Television Drama Series.
As of now, there is still no word on whether the August 2016 release of "Narcos" season 2 will be followed or pushed back. More details on the upcoming season are expected to be announced in the next few months.
