Nathan Drake Is Caught Between His Dreams & Passions And His Loved Ones - Theme of 'Uncharted 4'?
"Uncharted 4" is about chasing one's dreams and passions and making time for loved ones. Gamespot reported that "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" co-director Neil Druckmann said that the last of the "Uncharted" series will have the lead character, Nathan Drake, torn in a dilemma between chasing his dreams and passions and spending time with the most important people in his life, his loved ones.
Druckmann revealed that the action-adventure game's narrative plays a crucial part in giving an emotional shade to Drake. Nathan will be forced to confront and deliberate on what will happen if he chooses his dreams and passions above his loved ones. The treasure hunter will have to focus on his work and personal time balance. It is also hinted that Nathan's relationship with Elina will be an important part of this theme.
In the previous games, Nathan Drake has been questioned about his reckless decision-making by no less than three women – Elina, Sully and Chloe.
In the latest issue of OPM (via PSU), Neil Druckmann says the PlayStation 4 game will explore Nathan Drake's personal dilemma between following his passion and spending time with the people he cares for. He said, '"With Uncharted 4, as we were building it we were realizing more and more what the theme is: it's that balance between pursuing your passions and being with the ones you love, and what happens when you have to choose between those two things."
He added further, "Is there a way to reconcile that? That's the message of this game, and everything is constructed around that very simple concept."
There are reports that "Uncharted 5" is in the pipeline. Game developers Naughty Dog says it is possible but says it's "hard to imagine" the franchise without Nathan Drake.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is slated to release exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on March 18, 2016. You can play the Nathan Drake games on "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" a single disc re-mastered game containing enhanced versions of the previous three titles that you can get PS4 from October 9 onwards.
