NBA 2K17 Latest Updates, Release Date and Rumors: Players Will Move Faster in Next Installment? Gameplay and Player Ratings
NBA 2K fans and video gamers in general are highly anticipating the release of NBA 2K17. 2K has a history of making each next installment a lot better than the previous ones, and there's no reason not to expect the same for 2K17. Indeed, the latest NBA 2K17 rumors and previews have shown that this year's best NBA video game is worth the wait.
A few people in the media sector have had the privilege of playing the game before it's September 16 release. One of these is Brian Mazique of Forbes.com. He shared his insights on NBA 2K17's realism, gameplay, game modes, player renders, presentation and so much more.
Gameplay
NBA players in 2K17 seem to move faster than in NBA 2k16, but within the bounds of speed limits found in the actual NBA game. The pace is smooth and realistic despite the quicker movements of the players in the game.
Contact animations are much more improved as well. That includes contact during fast break, in the post, drives, and players defending cutters off screens. Rebounds, deflections, the physics of ball bounce on the rim; all are more realistic than in the previous game as well.
Another noticeable gameplay change is the need to be more precise when doing dribble moves and shooting. Aside from the X button, you can now use the shot stick to aim and time the shot perfectly. Just wait for the shot meter to fill up, and then release to get the perfect timing.
NBA 2K17 Modes
The following modes are available in NBA 2K17: Blacktop, Play Now Online, MyTeam, MyPark and Pro-Am, MyLeague, MyGM and Playoffs, and Customization.
NBA Blacktop is back, highly customizable as ever. For example, you can decide to play full court or half court, set wind conditions, play in real-life parks, and with the signature size-ups no longer available in 2K17, you have to create your own combo dribble moves in game.
Pro-Am is designed to make NBA 2K17 e-sports ready. Elite status teams get to play at the NBA 2K17 All-Star Tournament which will be held in New Orleans. The winner gets $250,000 and All-Star Game tickets.
MyLeague and MyGM are highly customizable features. Some of the customizations include expanding the number of teams in your league (up to 36 teams), dynamic expansion, and full league change ups (including relocations, rebrandings, new divisions, players and rosters). Basically, you can make your very own league.
MyCareer Mode makes NBA 2k17 an RPG. Unlike last year's MyCareer, NBA 2K17 offers players more control over the destiny of their player. After customizing how your player looks (including face scanning technology), your college career begins.
Face Renders and Player Ratings
Many NBA players now have new hairstyles in NBA 2K17. These include Iman Shumpert, Marcus Smart and Karl-Anthony Towns. NBA players also kept their tattoos, even after NBA 2K16 was sued by artists whose works were found in the game.
Improved renders aren't limited to current players. Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr's renders appear much better as well.
When it comes to player ratings, LeBron James is first with 96. Stephen Curry is second with 94. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Kawhi Leonard each have 93, while Draymond Green and Klay Thompson each have 90.
These 2K ratings confirm the super team that the Golden State Warriors have become.
New Trailer
The latest NBA 2K17 trailer showcases the kicks that are available in the game. NBA 2K17 has stepped up the shoe details of the basketball video game by using 3D scanning to include all the minute details for each shoe.
New shoes are featured, including Adidas' Yeezy Boost 350. Oldies are also in the game, including the ones that are worn by the Classics. The Entire Kobe collection is in the game, too.
