'NBA 2K17' Release Date and Pre-orders: Thierry Henry, Michael B. Jordan Among Celebrities Showcased in the Game; Trailer and Cast Details
As the release date of NBA 2K17 draws near, more information about the game is being revealed daily. Here are some of the latest previews to the much-anticipated NBA video game.
NBA 2K17 is the latest chapter of the highly popular and successful 2K NBA basketball video game series. NBA 2K is responsible for the distribution of the game, while Visual Concepts is in charge of game development.

Thierry Henry is a legend in football. The Frenchman played for Barcelona FC and Arsenal, and even had a stint at soccer in the US, playing for the Red Bulls. While this is unexpected to many 2K fans, Henry will showcase as a player in NBA 2K17.
Henry tweeted a render of his character in the video game. In the tweet, Henry said, "You're not mistaken, that's me in #NBA2K17! Want to play hoops with me? Pre-order @NBA2K today."
Thierry Henry's character can be played in Blacktop mode. In this mode, players can play one on one to 5 vs. 5 in a street ball setting. Aside from Blacktop, Thierry can be seen as a courtside personality during Spurs home court games.
Henry actually mentioned that he will be showcased in a video game last April. Henry tweeted, "From a shoot. I will actually be put into a computer game as a playable character. You will find out shortly…" Fans were quick to assume he will be on PES or any other football-related video game. Apparently, they are wrong.
Michael B. Jordan
"Creed" lead actor Michael B. Jordan will also be another celebrity that will be playable in NBA 2K17. Unlike Henry, he will be available in MyCareer under the name Justice Young. MyCareer is one of the game's most vastly improved modes, at least according to those invited to try out the game. One particular improvement over NBA 2K16's my career is more freedom to choose your player's fate.

The latest NBA 2K17 trailer isn't so much about the gameplay as it is about showcasing "Team 2K." The team is composed of Paul George, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
In this fun trailer, George is seen doing tai chi, Kevin Durant is enjoying a bowl of cereals in a bath tub, Irving is practicing tennis with Draymond Green operating the tennis ball machine. Also, Andre Drummond is enjoying a massage, Jimmy Butler is jogging while Karl-Anthony Towns is holding up an umbrella. Coach K was a hologram instructing a suspended Kevin Durant to hold the ball higher in NBA 2K headquarters.
Release Date
According to Forbes, NBA 2K17 will be released on September 20 for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Pre-orders will arrive on September 16.
