NBA Latest Trade Rumors for 2016-17 NBA Season: Noel Trade Situation, Hill with Jazz Contract Extension
Only one team remains undefeated in the 2016-17 NBA regular season. The defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics, with a final score of 128-122, bringing the team to a 5-0 standing. In the Western Conference, the Thunder lost its unblemished record to the Golden State Warriors, as Westbrook faces Durant for the first time.
Here are the latest NBA trade rumors and news for the 2016-17 NBA season.
1. Nerlens Noel's Trade Situation with the Sixers
To ease their front court logjam, the Philadelphia 76ers must trade one of their big men. With what Joel Embiid has been showing early in this regular seems, it seems unlikely that the Sixers will let him go. That's why some pundits believe it is Nerlens Noel who will be traded to another team.
Nerlens Noel has said something about the log jam in the Sixers roster through the Associated Press. He said, "You've got three talented centers that can play 30-plus minutes a night and three centers can't play 30 minutes a night. That's that. Things need to be situated. Obviously, somebody's got to be moved around."
While Noel is a defensive asset to any team, it seems unlikely that he will be traded any time soon because of his health; he needs left knee surgery. In fact, he hasn't played this season yet.
2. George Hill to Extend Jazz Contract
The Utah Jazz seems happy with what George Hill has been doing for the team so far. Tim MacMahon of ESPN reports that Hill is capable of playing long term for the team, and that it may offer him a contract extension by off-season.
The former Indiana Pacers point guard told ESPN that he would be highly interested in such a contract, but that he would "let them take care of that and just do what I can control."
Hill also said that he enjoys being in Utah, and it is a place where his family enjoys being in and would like to stay long term in. He also said that he isn't the kind of guy who likes to move around a lot, so a re-sign would be ideal.
So far, and the Pacers have only played 5 games with a 2-3 standing (that's 77 more NBA games), Hill has averaged 21.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. If he can keep these numbers up for the rest of the season, that would be a 10 point improvement over his career average in points.
