NBA News 2015: Kevin Love Accepts Being Benched in Fourth Quarters
The Cleveland Cavaliers have often been the object of both ridicule and admiration this season.
During the first couple of months into the season, the Cavs found it difficult to stay healthy with several injuries plaguing the newly assembled team. There were also some murmurings regarding the leadership of Coach David Blatt and his brand of basketball.
However, it only took two months of solid basketball from Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and the rest of the gang to shoot the team to second place behind the Atlanta Hawks. But with all the success the Cavs are experiencing, one can't help but notice the other Cavs player who has not been the same this season – Kevin Love.
In a report by ESPN, Love is averaging his lowest number of shots taken (12.8) since his sophomore year in the league.
To make it more interesting, coach Blatt has decided to sit Love in the fourth quarter of close games, and because of his strategy, Cleveland has won three of their last four games.
"A lot of the times, if you look out on the floor when that's happened, it's been matchups," Love said in an interview with Mike & Mike. "So I think it's on me to try to do what's best for the team and always be a consummate professional throughout this entire process."
Now in his seventh season in the league, the 26-year-old will enter the NBA Playoffs for the first time. Another newcomer in the NBA post-season is fellow Cavs teammate Kyrie Irving.
With how Cleveland is currently playing, the hype that surrounded it during the start of the season may just be the real deal. But would they be able to outperform the 2010 Miami Heat?
