NBA News 2015: Miami Heat's Gerald Green involved in fist fight; Rockets' Patrick Beverley arrested for traffic violations

Two of the NBA's veteran guards made the news recently, when both were tagged in separate incidents involving the police.

First was Miami shooting guard/small forward Gerald Green, who was recently involved in a fisticuff with a civilian, is currently suspended for two games. According to Bleacher Report's Adam Wells, the 29-year old basketball player was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after the incident, which happened on November 4th.

In another report by Manny Navarro and Charles Rabin of the Miami Herald, Green punched a still unidentified man in the right eye for trying to stop him from going back up to his apartment. Green also reportedly showed up at the front desk, bloodied up, prompting the clerk to call for paramedics.

Coach Erik Spoelstra says Green's absences from the games will not be that much of a factor.

"So, we have practices this weekend and he'll be able to get into a flow and a rhythm and we'll go from there."

Meanwhile, Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley also got himself into some police trouble, when he was arrested on Wednesday for an outstanding warrant regarding an unpaid parking ticket. According to Bleacher Report's Tyler Conway, Beverley did miss the shoot-around the team had during the morning, but was given the green light to play in their game against the New Jersey Nets, the same evening.

The Rockets, unfortunately, lost with a score of 106-98, giving them a 4-4 record for the season, so far.

In another report by Reid Laymance of the Houston Chronicle, the 27-year old Beverley claims he has yet to update the credit card on his EZ tag account.

"They were charging … my old credit card and it became a warrant," Beverley explained. "That's why I went to jail. I didn't get a ticket or anything. But I went to jail for EZ Tag."

""It was very weird, man. Especially me," he continued. "I could have had a better story than that."
