Reigning Most Valuable Player awardee Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and point guard Reggie Jackson of the Detroit Pistons were given the Player of the Week honors. Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant's best shooting performance so far in the season came during the Los Angeles Lakers' recent loss to the Toronto Raptors.
According to a report by NBA.com, the 25-year old Reggie Jackson had been the key to the Pistons' 4-0 winning run from Nov. 30 (Monday) to Dec. 6 (Sunday). In that time period, he averaged 27 points, 8.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.75 steals. He also put up a 56.9 field goal percentage and shot 52.9 per cent from three-point country. He also shot 89.3 per cent from the free throw line.
During the Pistons' December 2 game where they had a 127-122 overtime victory against the Phoenix Suns, Jackson piled in a total of 34 points and provided sixteen assists.
Curry, on the other hand, has been instrumental to the defending champions' 23-0 record for the season. In the Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 time period, he averaged 34.5 points, 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds. During the Warriors' December 5th 112-109 victory over the Toronto Raptors, Curry scored 44 points.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers superstar player Kobe Bryant finally put up his best shooting record for the season. Unfortunately, the Lakers were not able to emerge victorious in the said game against the Toronto Raptors.
In a report by Yahoo! Sports, Bryant was once again given a warm welcome in Toronto, where he was playing his last game in the city. The Toronto crowd laden with the Lakers' trademark Purple and Gold colors greeted "The Black Mamba" with a resounding ovation.
A video tribute was also shown in the arena's big screen before the end of the first quarter. During the game, Bryant was able to put in 21 points from 8-of-16 shooting. The Lakers, however, were unable to secure the victory as the Raptors pulled away with a 102-93 tally. After the game, Bryant spoke about this, saying he played "with a chip on his shoulder."
"I didn't care who was out there in front of me, my job was to try to make your night absolutely miserable," Bryant said. "I came out there to destroy you. It's not a very likable characteristic to have, but I found comfort in it."
