NBA News: Pistons Honor Kobe Bryant In His Final Detroit Game, George Mikan Rookie Card Sells For More Than $400,000
The Detroit Pistons paid their respects to Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant during their game on Sunday night. Meanwhile, the rookie card of late NBA great George Mikan was reportedly sold for more than $400,000.
The Pistons hosted "The Black Mamba" and the Lakers during the said game held at The Palace of Auburn Hills. According to a report by CBS Sports, Detroit Pistons announcer John Mason prepared a minute-long introduction for Bryant, who was playing his final Detroit game in the Motor City.
Mason went on to mention almost all of Bryant's accomplisments in the NBA, including his 17 NBA All-Star appearances, the four times he won the MVP plum at the All-Star games, the fifteen times he became a member of the All-NBA Team, the two times he won the Finals MVP award, his league MVP awards, the five titles he won with the Lakers, the two times he won the Olympic Gold Medal, and his All-Time scoring record.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they fell short in their efforts and were defeated by the Pistons, with a score of 111-91.
For his part, Bryant was grateful for the Detroit crowd's reception.
"It's been fun to be able to get that reaction," Bryant said in a report by Detroit News.
"Tonight was crazy. You get chanted here in Detroit. It's a beautiful feeling. It is something I thought I would never see."
Meanwhile, a 1948 rookie card of the late George Mikan was reportedly sold at a very handsome price.
According to NBA.com, the said card was sold in SCP Auctions' Fall Premier online auction. It sold for the amount of $403,664 The report adds that the said card is the only Bowman basketball card set ever produced. It was also noted to be the first and only one of its kind to get a "Gem Mint 10" grade from PSA cards.
