NBA news, rumors 2016: Golden State Warriors one win away from making history

The Golden State Warriors have the world's attention after tying the single season wins record made by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, but after winning their 72nd game last Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs, they have the opportunity to surpass that record and grab the all-time best if they win their last regular season assignment against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Steve Kerr's crew managed to not just tie the NBA-best wins record but also spoil the Spurs' attempt of ending the season without a loss in their home turf. The 92-86 loss to the Warriors was San Antonio's first in their home court this season.

It's been one remarkable ride for the reigning MVP Steph Curry and the rest of the Bay Area team, plus they have the best chance at making history that may never be broken again for a very long time. Although the focus is for everyone to remain healthy for the start of the postseason, it certainly looks like no one's going to sit this one out, especially that something great is at stake.

But there is something intriguing about this last game. The Warriors, as formidable and unbeatable as they have been all season long, seem to find time to relax in games against team below .500. They did that against the Grizzlies last week, where they saw themselves trail by 10 with a little over 2 minutes left in the game. If not for Curry's shooting and Green's smarts, they wouldn't have pulled off a win. In this last regular season game against the same team, they no longer can afford to relax, unless of course they want no part of history.

Wednesday's game is sure to catch the attention of millions of not just basketball, but casual sports fans around the world. All eyes are on Curry, Green, Klay Thompson and the rest of the Warriors. As for already banged up Grizzlies team, the second best seat in the house is the one where they can play as spoilers.
