NBA Trade Rumors 2017: Cavs Interested in Carmelo Anthony, but Kevin Love Still Off the Table

After the Cleveland Cavaliers turned down the New York Knicks' offer for a Carmelo Anthony–Kevin Love trade, the Knicks decided to talk to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, they needed a third team to facilitate a deal, so that has been put on hold as well.

Now, ESPN has reported that the Cavs are interested in acquiring Anthony. The problem is, they still refuse to part with Love. The All-Star has been performing really well this season, so the Cavs are obviously reluctant to include him in any deal. The report also revealed that the Knicks have continued to discuss potential deals with the Clippers and the Boston Celtics.

Sources have already told ESPN that the Celtics were not interested in Anthony, so the Knicks might have to look elsewhere for a trade partner. Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett has also reported that the Knicks and Celtics didn't engage in formal trade talks because the asking price for Anthony was too steep.

While all the trade talks are ongoing, Anthony has been saying all the right things by reiterating that he wants to stay with the Knicks. In an interview with Newsday, Anthony disclosed that he wanted to stay in New York because he does not want to displace his family. "That's more what I care about, my family," he said. "I think about that more so than my decision for my career," he added.

During the interview, Anthony also said that he hasn't been talking much with the Knicks front office.

"If it's something that's imminent that they want to come to me and talk to me about, I'm pretty sure I'll get that meeting or get that phone call. There's no conversations happening with me [and the front office] on a consistent basis or day-to-day basis."

Right now, Anthony isn't letting all the drama distract him and he has been playing exceptionally well since the trade rumors first came out.
