NBA Trade Rumors for 2016-17 NBA Season: Bosh to Nuggets, Smart to 76ers, Cousins to Raptors in 2017
As NBA teams prepare for practice camp before the start of the regular season, the trade rumor mill continues to produce new stories. Most of these rumors, however, focus around a few individuals, such as Chris Bosh, DeMarcus Cousins and the players involved in the front court log jam of the Sixers. Here are some of the latest rumors.
1. Chris Bosh to Denver Nuggets
Chris Bosh has been the subject of NBA trade rumors ever since he announced he is healthy enough to play, at least by his own judgment. Most of these rumors actually point to Bosh no longer going back to Miami Heat, but being traded elsewhere.
One of the latest rumors is that Chris Bosh will be heading to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried.
If this trade pushes through, both Chandler and Faried will be great additions to the Heat roster. Faried will be a force in both the rebounding and defensive department, and Chandler will provide a well-rounded offensive game to the team.
Bosh is a veteran who can help the younger players of the Nuggets with his wisdom. He has 2 rings and is an 11-time all-star, so he will definitely be a role model to Denver's roster.
Miami Heat fans probably won't take a Bosh trade positively, since they already lost their franchise player Dwyane Wade, who is now with the Chicago Bulls. Bosh averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season. The 13-year veteran remains productive after all these years, and he remains a valuable asset to whichever team he lands on.
2. Marcus Smart to Philadelphia 76ers
According to iSports Times, Marcus Smart might leave the Boston Celtics in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers involving Nerlens Noel.
The Sixers have a log jam in the front court with players like Noel and Okafor. The team is looking to trade one of their bigs for a player in the guard spot which needs to be filled.
Marcus Smart averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game last season; his sophomore year.
If this trade is realized, then Boston will have a formidable defensive front court with Noel and Al Horford. Both players are also talented on the offensive end.
As Isaiah Thomas' backup PG, Marcus Smart hasn't really showcased his full talents. This may be an opportunity for him to play starter and step up his game, especially on offense.
3. DeMarcus Cousins to Toronto Raptors in 2017
The Toronto Raptors might try to get DeMarcus Cousins to play for their team next season, at least according to a recent rumor. The general consensus is that the Raptors need one more superstar in their lineup to become a true contender in the NBA.
ESPN trade machine reveals that the Raptors could get Cousins in exchange for Norman Powell, Cory Joseph and Jonas Valanciunas.
Despite these rumors, Brian Windhorst of ESPN said that he thinks the Kings will keep Cousins for a long time, and he doesn't think "the Kings have ever been seriously close to trading him."
