NBA Trade Rumors for 2016-17 NBA Season: Hinrich to Cavaliers, Love and Noel to Celtics
The following are the latest trade rumors involving NBA teams trying to improve their current roster before the regular season begins.
1. Kirk Hinrich to Cleveland Cavaliers
Mo Williams announced his retirement during a Cavs Media Day after going back and forth between deciding to play one more season or calling it quits.
As a result, some rumors suggest that the Cavaliers will replace him with Kirk Hinrich. As a veteran point guard, Hinrich will most likely be interested in playing for last year's NBA Champions.
Two other veteran point guards are being targeted by Cleveland; Norris Cole and Mario Chalmers. Among the three though, Hinrich seems to be the better option. That's because he can play both point guard and shooting guard.
Hinrich is a 13-year veteran. His career averages are 10.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He only played 11 games with the Atlanta Hawks last season.
2. Kevin Love to Boston Celtics
According to the latest rumor, Kevin Love might leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Boston Celtics through a trade.
With Kevin Garnett's retirement, the Timberwolves lost a decent big man. Adding Kevin Love to the roster will fast track the team's improvement in the front court position. Love would enjoy playing alongside Ricky Rubio, known for his incredible passing skills.
Love used to play for Minnesota for six seasons before spending his previous two seasons with the Cavaliers. He had a major role with the Timberwolves for his scoring and rebounding prowess.
With the recent injury report for Nikola Pekovic, who will miss the entire 2016-17 NBA season due to foot injuries, adding a strong big man like Kevin Love now seems inevitable for the team. Pekovic is suffering from both Achilles and ankle injuries, and has been throughout his six-year career.
Love averaged 16.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
3. Nerlens Noel to Boston Celtics
According to FX News Call, the Boston Celtics is interested in getting Nerlens Noel, a young, athletic, center who has a lot of potential.
Philadelphia has a loaded front court with young and talented players like Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons. It seems unavoidable that the Sixers office will trade one of these players to add more depth in other parts of their roster.
Nerlens Noel has expressed his opinion about the current lineup, saying that their situation with three starting centers is "silly." He added, "With the departure of Sam Hinkie, I would have figured that management would be able to get something done this summer."
