NBA Trade Rumors for 2016-17 Season: Yi Jianlian and the Lakers, Bosh to Bulls, Monroe to Warriors
The NBA 2016-17 regular season will begin on October 25, 2016. While many teams are polishing their rosters and thinking about player movement strategies, the league is buzzing with rumors about possible in-season trades. The following are some of the latest rumors circulating in the NBA.
1. Yi Jianlian a Great Addition to the Lakers
There are many reasons why signing Chinese superstar Yi Jianlian is great for the Los Angeles Lakers. Yi didn't have much to show for during his first few years in the NBA, but after leaving the league to play in and for China, he is a more mature player and is probably in his peak right now.
Yi Jianlian's showing in the 2016 Rio Olympics probably upped his ante for a spot with the Lakers. He is, in fact, the third highest scorer in the global competition, scoring 20.4 points per game.
Yi's game is also suitable for the current brand of basketball thriving in the NBA today; that of a small ball, pace and space approach where stretch 4's and 3-point shooting big men are highly valuable. In this league of talented guards, having a big that demands defensive respect from the perimeter provides driving lanes for slashers.
He can play power forward for the Lakers with his quickness and shooting range. He can play as a substitute for Julius Randle, who fits the Lamar Odom mold; a big man who can pass the ball effectively. Larry Nance Jr. can also play the same position.
2. Chris Bosh to Chicago Bulls
Rumors say that the Miami Heat is ready to move on without Chris Bosh due to his health problems. In particular, Bosh is suffering from having blood clots in his lungs. Bosh says he is healthy enough to play, but the Heat management isn't taking any chances. In fact, the team didn't let Bosh play during last season's playoffs, despite indications they were having a serious run at winning rounds.
While it seemed that Bosh is no longer the player he used to be, there are still rumors about teams interested in acquiring him. That includes the Chicago Bulls.
If the Bulls can get Chris Bosh, they are surely going to get a high-level skilled player. Last season, Bosh was very productive, averaging 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Provided that Bosh is healthy, he will be a double-double threat any night, and the Chicago Bulls lineup will suddenly become more formidable than it already is.
Wade could factor in on motivating Bosh to play for the Bulls. Wade signed with the Chicago Bulls during free agency, and Bosh might be interested in playing with his friend and former teammate.
3. Greg Monroe to the Golden State Warriors
Greg Monroe is a hot commodity when it comes to big men in the NBA. He is a highly skilled offensive player. Last season, he averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
It's been reported that the Milwaukee Bucks is looking to trade Greg Monroe. High-caliber teams such as the San Antonio Spurs, who is looking to replace Tim Duncan who retired, and the Golden State Warriors are interested. The Golden State Warriors lost Andrew Bogut, in a move that was necessary to free up cap space for Kevin Durant, and Monroe would be more than a great replacement in the center position.
