NBA Trade Rumors: Should the New York Knicks Be Open to Moving Kyle O'Quinn?

O'Quinn has reportedly drawn interest from other teams in the league

The New York Knicks do not have that many players with significant trade value, and the ones that do are guys they likely want to keep on the roster.

The Knicks will likely want to make some moves to better balance their roster, but in doing so, they may have to let go of some useful players, including center Kyle O'Quinn.

Given the glut of big men on the team, the Knicks could probably afford trading one and getting what they can in return for this player.

Some other teams in the league may even be able to help them out in that regard.

In a recent article, ESPN's Ian Begley passed along some information from sources who shared that teams have "expressed interest" in O'Quinn fairly recently.

The Knicks may want to think carefully before they make any moves, however.

O'Quinn may not put up the flashiest stats, but he is still a productive player. Even with limited minutes last year, O'Quinn put up some nice rebounding totals, an ability to finish around the rim, and even showed off a little bit of rim protection.

He is an ideal big man to have come off the bench. Couple that with his affordable contract and it is no surprise that other NBA teams see something in O'Quinn.

If the Knicks receive an offer for O'Quinn that involves them getting back a late first round pick or even an early second round selection, they should then probably accept it. Anything less, however, and they may be better off keeping their productive big man.

O'Quinn is a good player to have, even on a team that may be lottery-bound.

Plus, if the Knicks can convince him to opt-in for next season, then who knows, he could be an important member of a team that is fighting for a lower playoff seed.

At a certain point, trading O'Quinn would be a wise move for the Knicks, but it would not necessarily be a bad thing for the team to hang on to him as well.
