'NCIS LA' Season 8: Cliffhanger in Finale, Season 9 to Offer Reset for Characters
The "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 finale will be life-changing for some of the beloved characters, according to executive producer R. Scott Gemmill.
At Paleyfest, the EP revealed that the season ender will affect Sam (LL Cool J), Kensi (Daniel Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) in big ways.
"Sam's life is going to change. Kensi and Deeks' life is going to change based on the [NCIS: LA season 8] finale," Gemmill teased.
Unfortunately, he did not provide any more details about the episode although he did say that the season will conclude with a major cliffhanger.
As for a brand-new season for the series, the EP suggested that the somber tone of "NCIS: LA" season 8, especially with Kensi's recovery arc, pushed them to envision season 9 as a "reset" that will give the characters a new beginning.
But the end is still far away. There will be five more episodes before "NCIS: LA" season 8 wraps up. A new episode titled "767" is set to air next week.
This installment will see Callen and Sam go undercover as they investigate the murder of an engineer who was working on a new guided missile destroyer.
The two will follow a spy looking to make some money off of the intel. Hetty (Linda Hunt) tasked Callen and Sam in "NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 19 to find out who is buying.
The duo is flying to Tokyo for the mission. However, the promo for "NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 19 suggests that Callen, Sam and all the passengers of their flight might not even get there.
In the clip, Callen and Sam engage in a shootout with the people they are after. One individual appears to have been taken hostage with Sam bargaining for this person's life. A split second of the promo also showed what seemed like the airplane hurtling down.
"NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 19 was previewed at Paleyfest. There, it was teased that despite Callen and Sam's efforts, not everyone will escape unscathed.
"NCIS: LA" season 8, episode 19, "767," airs Sunday, March 26, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
