'NCIS: New Orleans' Release Date, Cast Rumors: Gibbs to Appear in Crossover Episode, CBS Premiere Coming Sept. 23, 2014
Military drama spin-off television series "NCIS: New Orleans" is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 23 on CBS. The series is a spin-off of the original "NCIS," much like how crime drama television series "CSI" had "CSI: Miami."
The series will be introducing new characters as well as new cases different from the original series. "NCIS: New Orleans" will be the second spin-off series, the first being "NCIS: Los Angeles."
There are still no official plot details but the show's creators has assured fans that there will be many familiar faces visiting New Orleans during the series' first season debut.

The show's executive producers Gary Glasber, Mark Harmon, and Jeffrey Lieber have already shared a few plot details during the TCA Summer Press Tour. They had revealed that there will be one episode where Gibbs will be appearing, creating a crossover between the two series.
There are also planned episodes where Michael Weatherley and Pauley Perrette are involved. Another one is planned where David McCalum will be making an appearance. There are even rumors of Joe Spano's character, FBI Agent Fornell, making an appearance in New Orleans.
Of course, crossovers won't be the only thing running the spin-off as there will also be a cast of new characters. Scott Bakula will be playing as Dwayne Cassius Pride, the NCIS Agent in charge of the whole New Orleans crew.
There will also be Lucas Black playing as NCIS Senior Special Agent Christopher LaSalle, Zoe McLellan as Great Lakes office transferee NCIS Special Agent Meredith "Merri" Brody, C.C.H. Pounder as medical examiner Dr. Loretta Wade, and Rob Kerkovich as lab assistant Sebastian Voll.
