'NCIS' Season 13 News, Spoilers: Michael Weatherly Teases 'NCIS' Farewell, Possible Return, Ziva-Tony Closure
Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) on CBS' long-running "NCIS" says that fans are in for a big shock when the show airs its Season 13 finale, which marks his final episode, next week.
In Tuesday's penultimate "NCIS" Season 13 episode, an explosion destroyed the farmhouse which was believed to be the home of ZIva David (Coté de Pablo), DiNozzo's former love interest (de Pablo exited the series after season 11). According to Weatherly, the "provocative" image of David's burning farmhouse is only one of the many twists of "an extraordinary run-up" to his character's final farewell. DiNozzo's final episode will, as Weatherly told the press, have the feel of an action/espionage film a la "Mission: Impossible."
"The fuse has been lit and I think that you're going to be very surprised by a lot of what unfolds next week," Weatherly said via The Hollywood Reporter.

In January, the "NCIS" original cast member announced that he will be exiting the long-running CBS series after 13 years. Since then, "NCIS" showrunner Gary Glasberg and the show's writers have been working on the perfect way to write out DiNozzo from the popular police procedural/drama.
According to Weatherly, he has tried to not get too excited about the upcoming season finale and will be watching it with some childhood friends at a viewing party in New York on Tuesday, May 17. "It will be very emotional," the actor said about watching his character exit "NCIS."
Asked whether or not there is a possibility of him returning to the show as a guest star, Weatherly answered, "I would absolutely be open to anything and everything, including things that no one's even thought of yet."
Meanwhile, one of the things fans are looking forward to in the season finale is whether or not there will be closure for the long-running on-and-off romance between David and DiNozzo. While former "NCIS" star de Pablo has already announced that she will not be returning for the season 13 finale, Weatherly has assured fans that they won't be disappointed by how the show wraps up the long-simmering Ziva-Tony romance.
"I think the audience will feel very strongly that she's in the episode in a way that might be a little Shakespearean but it's real, and I think it's going to be a very exciting time for fans of that relationship," Weatherly told the press as quoted by Deadline.
Weatherly's final episode of "NCIS" airs Tuesday, May 17, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
