'NCIS' Season 13 News, Updates: Gibbs' Traumatic Past Uncovered in Episode 2
CBS' hit police-procedural drama TV series "NCIS" has all the reasons to capture everyone's attention despite it having already released a dozen seasons. And those reasons are owed to the amount of effort and creativity that the writers have poured into the show to make it more surprising as ever as the years goes by.
This season, yet a new unexpected twist is coming as the Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly-led TV series continued this week with an episode titled "Personal Day."
Citing the reports over at Design & Trend, Episode 2 finds Leroy Gibbs (Harmon) alive and well. However, there are some drastic changes in his emotional and physical aspect and this will further kick in when a person from the ace agent's past visits him.
An old friend – DEA agent Luis Mitchell (played by John Gabriel) appears to enlist Gibbs' help in solving a drug-running case.
Gibbs and the rest of his team helps the DEA this time. However, DiNozzo begins to notice that there's more to Gibbs' personal relationship with Mitchell and his desire to help the latter crack the case.
In fact, in this episode, fans got a glimpse on Mitchell and Gibbs' tragic past. It turns out Luis' father was the agent who died while protecting Gibbs's family. This case was personal for both of them as they were also going after the man who ultimately was responsible for the deaths of Gibbs' wife, his daughter and Mitchell's dad.
The synopsis of the episode which was posted over at The Futon Critic said that the squad will also begin to notice Gibbs' "new look" in the upcoming episode. Mark Harmon's character can now be seen ditching his standard military haircut and polo shirt for a more modern cut and tailored dress shirt. It seems that he's realized it's time to move on.
Showrunner Gary Glasberg previously teased (via D&T) that there would really be some "physical changes" with Gibbs on top with the psychological ones that he had to undergo after the near-death events in Season 12.
Catch Gibbs' new look in "NCIS" which airs every Tuesday, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
