'NCIS' Season 14 Episode 20: McGee Takes on a Greedy Hacker

McGee (Sean Murray) will have his mettle tested as he takes on a hacker in the upcoming episode of "NCIS."

In the episode titled "A Bowl of Cherries," the synopsis (according to CarterMatt) reveals that the NCIS will be tapped to investigate a hacking incident. A vice admiral will personally approach Gibbs (Mark Harmon) when his laptop becomes infected with ransomware. Evidently, whoever hacked his gadget wants money or else all of his files, personal and professional, will be deleted. McGee will take point on this case since he is the resident cybersecurity and computer crime guy on the team. They must track down the culprit before the virus eliminates the vice admiral's records.

Meanwhile, viewers will get to meet Quinn's (Jennifer Esposito) mom, Marie (Mercedes Ruehl). It appears that the agent will ask for a leave to help her out on an important matter. Quinn will reportedly receive a 911 text, causing her to freak out and respond to Marie's urgent call. What could have happened with Mrs. Quinn?

Last episode, there was a rumor circulating in headquarters that Quinn and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) dated back in their FLETC days. McGee and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) were eager to find out if the gossip was true so they conducted their own mini investigation.

They manage to secure an old piece of footage of Torres singing in a karaoke bar. They believed Quinn was somewhere in the audience, but she was hiding from the camera. When Bishop finally told Quinn about the rumor, the latter denied it, stating that she could not stand Torres' big ego. Torres also said he and Quinn never dated. He explained they were just pals during their trainee days and that he could not even remember how she looked like that time. Viewers were quick to note, though, that there is a growing tension between the two. Are the writers planning a romance storyline for them?

"NCIS" season 14 air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
