'NCIS' Season 14: Will Gibbs Be the New Director?
The team is about to lose a member to politics when "NCIS" season 14 returns to the small screen with episode 17, "What Lies Above."
Congresswoman Jenna Flemming (Mary Stuart Masterson) returns to the scene not to get the assistance of the team as she did in the previous episode she appeared in, but to convince Director Leon Vance to get into politics.
Masterson first starred as Flemming in an earlier "NCIS" season 14 episode titled "Pay to Play." Here, some fans got the impression that a romance between the congresswoman and Vance could be brewing.
The end of the installment suggested that this is not the last time fans will see Flemming and this turned out to be true. The synopsis for "NCIS" season 14, episode 17 suggests that the relationship will be more than just romantic.
It turns out that Flemming will try to sway Vance into working together with her by delving into the world of politics. In fact, she seems so sure she will be able to convince him.
The previous "NCIS" season 14 episode saw Flemming tell Gibbs (Mark Harmon) that it is time for him to sit in the "big chair," hinting a possible promotion.
There is no word if Gibbs will take it though. Thankfully, fans will be one step closer to this possible major shakeup in "NCIS" season 14, episode 17.
Emily Wickersham, who plays Agent Bishop, hinted in an interview with TVLine that a promotion for Gibbs could actually be on the way in "NCIS" season 14.
"When we got to that moment at the table read, I was like, 'Wait, what? Hold up....' We all kind of turned to each other. It was like a little tiny thing, but it was a big drop, so I am super-curious about that, because that would be a big deal, and a big shift," she explained.
"NCIS" season 14, episode 17, "What Lies Above," airs Tuesday, March 7, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
