Based on the trailer, players will be able to customize decorative lights for their vehicle's grill.

The reboot is currently in development at EA-owned Ghost Games, which also released "Need for Speed: Rivals" in 2013. The "Need for Speed" marks Ghost Games' first game creation effort sans collaboration with other developers.

EA's car culture site, Speedhunters, will also be onboard to ensure authentic depictions of urban car scenes, picking out some of the best and most popular parts of 20 years worth of "Need for Speed" titles.

Speedhunters has also announced they will be releasing behind-the-scenes footage of the reboot's development before it launches later in the year.

One of the most iconic titles in gaming, "Need for Speed" was first released in 1994 for fifth generation consoles, featuring racing cars on a number of tracks, police pursuit scenes during races, and car body customization.

At present, there are a total of 22 games that have been released under the series, with a film version starring Aaron Paul as protagonist street racer, Tobey Marshall released in theaters March 2014. A sequel to the film was announced last month.

EA is planning to air the full gameplay trailer for the reboot during the E3 Conference on June 15.
