Netflix Adds HDR Support For Windows 10
Recent reports have revealed that Netflix has introduced a handy support that allows its users to stream in HDR on their PC. The update requires the latest Windows 10 and the streaming giant has also revealed some of the specs needed to enjoy it in full capacity.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) support on Windows 10 for both the Edge browser and the Netflix app," Netflix said in a statement. "With this update, Netflix members who have a supported device and a premium plan can enjoy amazing Netflix movies and shows in HDR. With HDR enabled, fans can immerse themselves in the delicious colors of Chef's Table, the terrifying depths of the Upside Down in Stranger Things 2, and enjoy the upcoming Netflix film Bright starring Will Smith."
Further reports reveal that the update may be quite limited in its availability. For users to enjoy the new feature, their devices must be powered by one of the seventh generation Intel Core processor or later. Furthermore, the graphics card will have to one of the integrated cards or the NVIDIA GTX1050 or higher.
For now, those who own devices with AMD's Vega graphics are not eligible for the update, but experts speculate that it might not be long before a partnership is devised between the took tech giants, especially when AMD's graphics card is fully capable of HDR. Meanwhile, Microsoft has added the HDR support for Netflix on PC in the recently released Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which should be free for Windows users looking to upgrade their respective devices. Netflix also shared that for any concerns on the new HDR support for PC, fans can reach out to them through the Help Center. More information on any new support for hardware is expected to be revealed in the coming months.
