Netflix Picks Up Dark Comedy Series 'Maniac' Starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill
Netflix fans will have something new to watch soon as it has just been announced that the global provider of streaming movies and TV series has picked up the dark comedy "Maniac." As stated in a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming giant adopted the show few days after it was taken out.
The show will star "The Amazing Spiderman" actress Emma Stone and "The Wolf of Wall Street" actor Jonah Hill. The two are no strangers to working together as they have both played roles in the 2007 movie "Superbad." And as already expected, the duo will be delivering something fresh and hit to the small screen with their own take of "Maniac," which is a remake of the 2014 Norwegian series of the same name.
Business Insider also reported that like all Netflix shows, the series has been offered a straight-to-series order with a total of 10 episodes. The show will be directed by "True Detective" mastermind and Emmy winner, Cary Fukunaga, who is also said to be the one set to direct every episode. However, as of the current, the show has no writer yet but the search for one is well underway. Netflix's "Maniac" will be produced by Paramount Television.

For those who are not oriented yet with the "Maniac" series, A.V. Club detailed that it will follow the life of a man in his thirties named Espen, played by Hill. He is patient in a psychiatric ward and in order to escape the harsh reality of life, he goes into his own mind to live in a fantasy world. In that made-up world, he is loved by everyone and every day there is a party. There is also no limit to the experiences he comes across. His life in fantasy is basically the best and it's a place where he is able to handle anything. Meanwhile, Stone will play as a fellow patient.
