Call Of Duty Game Release Date: Launch Set for Fall 2015
The 2015 edition of the "Call of Duty" franchise will be launched in the fall. Activision announced the release of the new game Thursday.
Activision commented on the newly announced addition to the franchise, describing it as an "exciting new game from one of our top development teams."
"Call of Duty" publisher, Activision, later confirmed Treyarch will be developing the latest game in the franchise. The news was confirmed in an investor call, Yahoo! News reported.
Treyarch is the same developer the company hired to create the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" series. No word has yet been released by Activision on whether or not the game would be the sequel "Black Ops 3" or have a different title.
The 2015 edition of the "Call of Duty" has been in development for three years. The most recent game from the franchise, "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" was made by Sledgehammer Games.
Treyarch has also reacted to the news, tweeting, "COD in 2015 confirmed. We look forward to carrying on the conversation … that is, if we haven't started it already. #InDevelopment."
"Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" has now eclipsed the $1 billion mark for sales. Sales of DLC, DLC passes and purchases of the game are also up on a yearly basis.
