'New Girl' Season 5 Spoilers: Season Begins with a Party

Fans can celebrate along with the characters of "New Girl" as the series is expected to return with a party.

The previous season of "New Girl" ended with Cece, played by Hannah Simone, and Schmidt, played by Max Greenfield, becoming engaged. With that, the fifth season of "New Girl" will start off with an engagement party for the couple.

Titled "Big Mama P," the premiere episode of season 5 will be bringing both happiness and drama. It was revealed that Schmidt and Cece will ask Nick, played by Jake Johnson, and Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, to be the Best Man and Maid of Honor for their wedding, respectively.

Fans will see Schmidt and Nick attempt to present a traditional indian Bollywood dance number. However, one guest will not be particularly happy about it. It was revealed that Jess will indirectly start drama when she invites Cece's mother, played by Anna George, to the party. Apparently, she will be bringing some challenges to the couple since she does not approve of Schmidt as Cece's fiancé.

In addition, it was reported that a new face will be joining the cast of "New Girl." Megan Fox is expected to take on the role of Reagan, who will also bring more trouble to the couple. In a promotional video for the series, Reagan was seen telling Schmidt that she and Cece had a past before.

There are speculations that Fox's entrance to the series is to compensate for the loss of Deschanel, who was on maternity leave during the time of the shooting. The series will portray her on jury duty, making an appearance in only five episodes of the season.

Jake Johnson had talked to TV Line about Deschanel's absence on the series. He stated, "We replaced Jess' energy with a different energy in the loft. Everyone acts differently, there's a slightly different feeling to everything — but the show, at its core, was the same, which was a neat experiment to be part of."

"New Girl" Season 5 will air on FOX this Jan. 5.
