'New Girl' Season 6 Episode 20 Spoilers: Current Season Could Be Show's Last; Will Schmidt Finally Reveal His Name?
FOX has yet to renew its long-running sitcom, "New Girl," but recent reports are hinting that season 6 could be the show's last.
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, actor Jake Johnson, who plays the role of writer Nick Miller, shared that even though the show's future may still hang in the balance, they have already shot a season finale that would satisfy the show's core fan base, regardless of whether or not "New Girl" gets renewed.
"I think after this season it's done," Johnson said.

With the show's possible conclusion looming on the horizon, one crucial question has popped up in the fans' minds: Will Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) first name ever be revealed, and will resolving this long-standing mystery bring the series to its end?
The synopsis for the upcoming episode 20 titled "Misery" does not indicate anything about Schmidt revealing his name. Following the events of the previous episode, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) decides to distract herself from her budding feelings for Nick by running off to Portland to take care of her dad (Rob Reiner).
Meanwhile, Nick goes into a panic when he realizes that he may not really know Reagan (Megan Fox) all that well when they attend a work party together. On the other hand, Aly (Nasim Pedrad) prepares to meet Winston's mother (Anna Maria Horsford), who has no idea at all that her son and her fiancée are cops.
The subsequent episode titled "San Diego" will feature Schmidt contemplating finally using his given name. What could have inspired him to even think about it, when all this time he has survived without having to tell anybody his real name?
Jess will still be in Portland taking care of her dad, and while there, she and her old man will unexpectedly help each other with their love lives. Will Jess' father help her daughter realize and finally admit that she can never run away from her feelings for Nick forever? And where would Nick's new realization about himself and Reagan lead him? Is the series setting the former couple up for a reconciliation in the season finale?
"New Girl" airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
