New Shows for Fall 2012: What to Watch Without 'Desperate Housewives' or 'CSI'
In despair because "Desperate Housewives" isn't coming back or can't believe that they didn't renew "CSI: Miami?" Perhaps a secret disappointment over the fact that "Jersey Shore" has met its demise? Rest assured, some new shows out may help to fill that void.
If you loved all of the female drama that the housewives brought to your home, this season you might want to try "Malibu Country." Similar to the housewives, it takes place in California and revolves around a strong female character played by Reba McEntire, who starts life anew after she learns of her cheating husband.
For a Southern drama based on a character in her mid-40s who is eager to stay in her prime, try "Nashville." For more eerily spun and equally ruthless characters, try "666 Park Avenue."
"CSI:Miami" fans looking for a new crime drama may want to try "The Closer" spin off titled "Major Crimes" which, much like its title, will focus on the major crimes division and star Mary McDonnell.
"Elementary" may also suit your fancy. The new show is a crime drama based on Sherlock with Johnny Lee Miller as the main character, and Lucy Liu as his sidekick.
As for "Jersey Shore," well maybe it's a good thing that got cancelled . But if you just can't live without that Jersey girl style, try "Made in Jersey." It has all of the Jersey girl attitude but is mixed with a little more wit and focused on a Jersey girl that a little less party-orientated. Perhaps that's why it's a drama and not a reality series. The show will star Janet Montgomery, who plays Martina Garretti, a Snooki-inspired Jersey girl who attempts to use her street smarts to make it as an attorney in Manhattan.
Other new shows that may have promise include "Arrow," a show about revenge with archery, "Go On" with funny "Friends" guy Mathew Perry, "Last Resort" for heavy action, and "Revolution" for serious drama.
