Extreme Mouthguard Challenge Going Viral -- Will You Try It?
YouTube Stars Make a New Viral Challenge Inspired by 'The Late Late Show'
The internet has gone through several viral challenges throughout the past years. It seems as though the trend is not coming to an end as another viral challenge has been introduced. Welcome to the "Extreme Mouthguard Challenge," a new fun (and a bit dangerous) challenge for social media users to try.
The challenge requires people to wear mouth guards or mouth opening contraptions while trying to eat or drink. The challenge was inspired by "The Late Late Show," which showed James Gordon, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Schaal wearing the contraptions while on stage. They were trying to experience what McCarthy went through when filming for her upcoming movie "The Boss."
In "The Boss," there was a scene where McCarthy had to wear the same mouthgaur for seven hours, which left her soaking wet and her teeth very sensitive. In addition, the "Late Late Show" group was trying to make a point about how lips are functional parts of the body.
While wearing bibs, they tried to drink water. After their unsuccessful attempt, McCarthy ended up just taking her hand into the mug to spray herself with water. Aside from the annoyance, they also pointed out that while wearing the mouth contraptions, it was difficult to talk about anything serious.
From there, two men named Alex Mandel and Roman Atwood posted a video of themselves on YouTube while trying to reenact the challenge. They tried to eat saltines while wearing the contraption, which proved to be a hard task. Then, they attempted to wash the saltines down with water.
The video continued to show their attempts to defy the mouth guard as they tried to eat watermelon and ice cream. After their trials, it was then concluded that not having lips makes the simplest tasks difficult to do. Mandel's video was able to reach up to one million views, which influenced other YouTubers to take on the challenge. With that, many are now posting their own versions of the #MouthGuardChallenge.
