New Wonder Woman is Gal Godot of 'Fast and Furious': Justice League Coming Soon?

The new Wonder Woman to appear in the "Batman vs Superman" movie will be Gal Godot, who is best known as one of the cast of the "Fast & Furious" alongside the late Paul Walker. Wonder Woman will appear in the "Man of Steel" sequel, which could spark the beginning of the Justice League.

The new Wonder Woman role was officially confirmed for Godot Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter. She will be playing Diana Prince, the Amazon warrior princess who historically has had super strength and a lasso of truth-- those details producers could alter, though. Director Zack Snyder, who directed "Man of Steel," said that the Israeli model was perfect for the part.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role," he said.

"We look forward to audience discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character," Snyder added.

The confirmation of Wonder Woman's appearance in the "Batman vs. Superman" film points to the possibility of a "Justice League" movie to counter Marvel's "Avengers," which grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

Batman and Wonder Woman's characters could appear alongside Green Lantern and the Flash in the 2015 movie, although a Warner Bros. executive was non-committal during the Entertainment and Tech Summit in October.

"We've been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them," Greg Silverman, the distributor's president of creative development, told a Variety reporter. "Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it's a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero."

Other actresses who were rumored for the part of Wonder Woman included Jamie Alexander, who played a supporting role in the "Thor" movies, Olga Kurylenko of "Oblivion" and Elodie Young of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."

In addition to Godot's appearance in a supporting role in the past three "Fast & Furious" movies, she also was in Tom Cruise action flick "Knight & Day" and comedy "Date Night." Originally from Israel, she served in the army as a fitness instructor for two years before competing in the Miss Universe pageant in 2004. She has also modeled for Maxim.

The "Man of Steel" sequel is slated for 2015.
