Eli Manning 'Fine' With New York Giants Drafting a Quarterback
Eli Manning has always been remarkably durable and he probably has a few more good seasons left in the tank. But it seems the search for his eventual successor may have already begun this offseason.
The New York Giants spent a lot of time checking out quarterbacks at the scouting combine last month and many believed that they might select a signal caller in the early rounds of this year's draft.
Well, Manning appears to be at peace with the idea and he understands the team has plan for the future. The 36-year-old quarterback attended the National Football Foundation's annual "Elite Eleven'' Scholar-Athlete Award Dinner last Thursday and he talked about the search for his successor.

"Whoever they need to draft that's going to help out the team, whether it's this year or going forward, I'm fine. We drafted a quarterback four years ago, Ryan Nassib, I know that's part of it, quarterbacks are going to get drafted. I got my job to do, I'm going to go out there and do it," Manning said, according to the New York Post.
"Ownership and management have their job, to draft the best players and looking forward to the future, I understand that's part of it."
The Giants already added a potential successor to Manning when they signed Geno Smith last month. However, most fans probably don't want to see the Giants hand him the keys to the franchise. After all, this is the same quarterback who failed to impress the New York Jets during his tenure there.
The Giants have the 23rd overall pick in the draft and they can use it to select Mitchell Trubisky, DeShone Kizer, Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson. They also have the 55th overall pick in the draft.
Manning is under contract for the next three years, so the Giants can take the time to develop his heir apparent.
