New York International Auto Show News: Hyundai's Genesis New York Concept Steals The Show
When the New York International Auto Show is unveiled to the public this weekend, car aficionados will surely be in awe with the roughly a thousand cars and trucks the show puts in display. Whether one expects a luxurious sports car or a multi-purpose SUV, the exhibit will surely not disappoint him. Amidst the sea of awe-inspiring cars that the show offers, though, there is one that is a clear standout: the Genesis New York Concept.
The Genesis New York Concept is Hyundai's latest inclusion in its newly-launched Genesis luxury line. The posh hybrid car, without question, is a clear representation of Hyundai's design quality.
"With its expressive volumes and refined design, the New York Concept truly embodies the 'Athletic Elegance,' that characterizes Genesis products and will continue to do so for future models that come from our luxury brand," said in Genesis boss Manfred Fitzgerald said in a statement released to the press earlier.
With the Genesis New York Concept, it can be said that Hyundai is now armed with a product that can strengthen its bid to capture the compact luxury car market and give BMW's stalwart 3-Series a run for its money.
Currently, Hyundai's Genesis line is composed of the large G90 luxury limo and the Hyundai Genesis-based G80. In the event that the Genesis New York Concept is green lighted for production, Hyundai can bet that that its Genesis line can capture more consumers.
The New York Genesis concept boasts of 242 horsepower and 2.0 liter hybrid drive system blended with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Nonetheless, there is no denying that the car's major selling point is its sleek appearance that left the privileged members of the press talking and in awe.
Nonetheless, despite leaving a good impression, thanks to its appearance, it may still take a while for Hyundai to give the green light for the production of the Genesis New York Concept. After all, competition in the compact car market is cut-throat, thanks to the presence of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Cadillac, and even Alfa Romeo.
While the Genesis New York Concept has all the potential to challenge the said brands, it remains to be seen if it can sustain its good impression. Hence, it is just but proper for Hyundai to take things slow.
