New York Islanders vs Washington Capitals Live Stream, Start Time: Watch Online NHL Hockey 2015
Fresh from their Game 1 win, the New York Islanders try to win their second game at the Verizon Center when they face the Washington Capitals in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference battle. The game will be on April 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
In the first game, both teams matched up pretty well early, with Brock Nelson picking up the puck in the middle to blast a shot on Braden Holtby's glove side to give the Islanders the lead in the seventh minute of the game.
Marcus Johanssen leveled things in the closing minute of the first period with a goal after a scuffle behind the New York goal. The Capitals eventually won the puck and Johanssen blasted a shot that hit the top-left corner of the goal. However, things started to turn around in the second period, with Ryan Strome scoring off a John Tavares assist in the fourth minute to restore the New York lead.
Off a face-off in the Capitals' side, Tavares brought the puck to his left side where Strome picked up the puck and shot in between bodies to beat Holtby. And in the 11th minute, Josh Bailey added to the lead after an offensive barrage from New York. Holtby tried to stop numerous attempts from the Islanders attackers but could not stop Bailey's second attempted rebound which found a crease underneath him.
The goal was reviewed but finally confirmed the goal after replays showed that it clearly went past the line. Things were formally ended with an empty net goal by Nelson after Washington were desperate to cut the lead with less than two minutes on the clock. Washington lost control of the puck in their offensive zone which led to a quick counter-attack for New York to finish the game 4-1.
With another win in Washington, the Islanders take a firm hold on the series as it heads to the Big Apple.
