New York Knicks NBA 2015 News, Rumors: Lose 14 in a Row: They 'Stink'
The New York Knicks lost with a score of 96 points against the Houston Rockets' 120 points.
This is the Knicks' 14th consecutive loss for this season and the Rockets won over the Knicks for the 11th straight time. Rockets shooting guard James Harden scored 25 points and 9 assists.
A group of men in the front row who claimed to be Knicks fans wore paper bags over their heads during the game saying that they want to send a message that "The Knicks stink and Melo is a bum."
Houston Rockets power forward Dwight Howard saw the bagged men and said that it is an "unfortunate situation" but being able to play basketball is a blessing enough.
Harden also did not point out Knick's weaknesses but instead emphasized that the Rockets are out to play basketball and are determined to perform no matter what team they are up against.
The absence of three injured Knicks players may have contributed to the team's consecutive loss. Power forwards Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire and Center Andrea Bargnani are all out due to injuries.
Knicks point guard Jose Calderon admitted the difficulty but is determined to fight.
"It's tough mentally, but we've got to be professional and just keep playing and working hard," Calderon said.
Knicks coach Derek Fisher explained how they tried to execute the game saying that they went with the younger guys in the second half.
"Those guys who started the half gave up 12 points in three minutes so they didn't deserve to be in the game. Their fight and competitiveness was a little more. In some it is understandable with our schedule," Fisher said.
As for the veteran players, Fisher said that he understood that nobody wants to lose and he can sense "frustration" and "disappointment" because the veterans are doing their best.
The coach advised his players to relax and believe in themselves.
Hopefully, the New York Knicks will do better in their next game against Charlotte Hornets on Jan.10.
