New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors: Preview
Defending champions Golden State Warriors will be trying to carry on with their winning ways as they face the 13th seeded New York Knicks.
Both teams will be meeting each other for the second time this season on Wednesday, March 16th, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The first time both teams met was on January 31st, with the Warriors handily beating the Knicks with a score of 116-95, despite a slow start in the game. In the said game, guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green were the main contributors.
Thompson, who chimed in 34 points and two assists through 32 minutes of playing time, scored 17 of his points in the second quarter alone. Green, on the other hand, contributed 20 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, tying the franchise record with his ninth triple-double.
For the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony's efforts of putting in 24 points and ten rebounds was just not enough to win them the game. The Warriors are currently on a five-game winning streak since their upset loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last March 6th.
So far, they have managed to put on impressive performances against the Orlando Magic, the Utah Jazz, the Portland Trailblazers, the Phoenix Suns, and the New Orleans Hornets. For head coach Steve Kerr, coaching a talented team such as the current Warriors squad is something he is grateful of.
"It's so rare in the NBA, in your first coaching job, to inherit a great team," Kerr said in a report by Kevin Chroust for NBA.com. "They had already won 50-plus before I even got here. I'm pretty lucky to coach these guys."
The Knicks, on the other hand, have only won two of their last five games: against the Detroit Pistons on March 5th, and against the Phoenix Suns on March 9th.
The Warriors still hold the best record in the league today with a win-loss slate of 60-6. New York, meanwhile, hold a record of 28-40.
