These two teams are no strangers to each other as they met four times earlier in the regular season.
New York won the series 3-1 and were impressive in their victories.
Their first meeting was in New York, where the Rangers scored three straight goals before getting a response from Washington and by the time the Capitals did, it was already too late.
However, Washington's lone win against the Rangers was also in New York, where the Capitals had to come from behind to win the game. Down 2-1 after the first period, Alex Ovechkin tied the match in the second period and things stayed level at the end of two frames. In the final frame, two goals in a span of three minutes gave Washington a two-goal cushion and they would score again in the final two minutes to get maximum points and a psychological lead.
This series is shaping up to be the one to watch in the East as both teams possess great talent and skill on both sides of the ice.
