New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals: Live Stream, Start Time, Watch NHL Stanley Cup Online
Needing only one more win to move to the Eastern Conference final of the NHL Stanley Cup, the Washington Capitals travel to the Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers in Game 5. The match is on May 8, 2015 at 7 p.m. ET.
Washington has been excellent so far this series as they try to topple the veteran Rangers. They have won both their home games and won the season opener in New York.
With only one win away, they will look to finally eliminate one of their biggest rivals in the East.
As expected, the Rangers would try to put up a fight and they were the first team to score in Game 4.
Derick Brassard continued his excellent playoff season so far, scoring his fifth in the 6:12 mark of the second period to give New York the lead at the Verizon Center.
However, Andre Burakovsky leveled the score in the 17th minute to end the frame tied 1-1. He would be the difference-maker in the third period, needing only 24 seconds to score his second of the game and give the Capitals a 2-1 lead.
New York still tried to find a way to get a tying goal, but they simply could not beat the Washington defense as they lost the match and are now only loss away from ending their season.
These two teams have had tough battles before and they are very evenly matched – so for Washington, they should capitalize on the series lead they have and try to prevent the Rangers from mounting any comebacks.
As for the Rangers, the defensemen should do more to protect Henrik Lundqvist and stop Washington from getting goals, in turn the offense must be more productive and aggressive in what could be their final match of the year.
