New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals Live Stream: Watch NHL Hockey Online

It's a Metropolitan Division matchup as the Washington Capitals host the New York Rangers at the Verizon Center in the NHL. The teams have only met once this season, with the Rangers getting a 4-2 victory in New York.

Rick Nash played a big role in the victory, scoring the game's opening goal before doubling his tally in the third period with a beautiful slap shot. Nash also had one assist, the second of two goals from Martin St. Louis.

Down 3-0 at one point the Capitals looked like they were mounting a comeback when Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alexander Ovechkin scored in a span of five minutes, but it was too late for Washington.

Henrik Lundqvist played a great game for the Rangers, stopping 30 of 32 attempts on goal, good for a 94 percent save rate. His counterpart Braden Holtby only saved 85 percent of the shots that their rivals took, going 23 for 27.

However, the Capitals are coming off a big 6-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres and are hoping their luck in front of goal spills over when they host last year's Eastern Conference champions.

Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom lead the team in points with 69 each, with the former banging in 44 goals so far this season.

As for the Rangers, they are riding a two-game win streak and have won three of their last four.

They beat the Chicago Blackhawks 1-0 thanks to an overtime goal from Derick Brassard, before going to Uniondale and beating neighboring rivals the New York Islanders 2-1.

In that local rivalry, the Rangers fell behind early after a goal from the Islanders in the first period, but they showed resolve and battled back to level in the second period from a Kevin Hayes wrister before Nash played the hero with a slap-shot in the final period to get the victory.

This should be an intriguing matchup as the Rangers are third in the East with 89 points, while the Capitals are not too far behind in seventh with 82.
