They are now ninth in the table with only six points after eight games, as they are only avoiding the last spot thanks to a slightly better record than the Chicago Fire.
Goals have been tough for New York RB to come by as Bradley Wright-Phillips and Mike Grella lead the team in scoring with two goals each so far. However, it is clear that they need more and hopefully they can start improving before they drop down the rankings even more.
They have only won twice so far in the season, and have lost four of their last five league games. This stretch includes losses to the New England Revolution, Sporting Kansas City, San Jose Earthquakes and the Colorado Rapids.
One thing going for them at the moment is that their most recent game was a 3-2 win over Orlando City.
Meanwhile, FC Dallas is enjoying a dream start to the league – as they find themselves atop the Western Conference with 17 points after nine games.
They overtook the Colorado Rapids, but the Rapids have a game in hand.
Despite that, Dallas should take advantage of the chance they have to be on top of the table and keep putting on the pressure.
Tesho Akindele and Maximiliano Urruti have three goals each so far in the season so look for them to add to their tally as Dallas are trying to bounce back from a recent loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps.
