'Nex Machina' News: Housemarque Releases 4K Quality Trailer to Announce Game's PC Version

Earlier this week, game developer Housemarque announced – with a trailer in 4K resolution – that they are releasing "Nex Machina" on PC.

"Nex Machina" is a shoot 'em up video game expected to arrive this year. The game is also going to be released on the PlayStation 4.

At Housemarque's blog, the Finnish video game studio expressed their excitement about releasing "Nex Machina" on PC, noting that this is going to be their first PC game since the 1999 release of "Supreme Snowboarding."

In the same blog, Housemarque's chief executive officer Ilari Kuittinen said, "It's amazing and humbling to be able to get back to our roots in PC development, where we started almost 22 years ago."

Since the announcement, the Steam page for "Nex Machina" has been up where developers tease that the upcoming title is "taking hints from both 'Robotron' and 'Smash TV'" and that "Nex Machina" "focuses on pure action, voxel destruction and competition in the distant, cablepunk themed future."

The game designer for "Robotron" (1982) and "Smash TV" (1990), Eugene Jarvis, is actually the creative consultant for "Nex Machina." This implies that the upcoming game will surely exude the classic shoot 'em up vibe that players have grown to love while maximizing the most advanced technologies to deliver great animation.

In the recently released trailer, gamers can preview the vivid colors incorporated in the game's visuals while the character moves around to fire down enemies. The teaser video also shows scenes at a top-down perspective.

So far, developers have revealed that "Nex Machina" is going to be introduced with more than 100 levels spread out in five different worlds. Apart from that, players will be challenged to discover all the secret paths, levels, and characters hidden within the game.

As for the game mechanics, what's only known for now is it will require players to go through rooms and clear off waves of enemies by shooting them. However, players will have to be cautious with their shooting because one of their other goals is to spare human lives.

Housemarque has yet to announce the specific launch date for "Nex Machina."
