Nextbit Robin Heading to India, Priced at Rs. 26,500
San Francisco-based phone company Nextbit is finally bringing their Robin device to the Indian market. As detailed in a report by The Indian Express, the first Android phone that is cloud-based will be launched in India by the end of April.
It's not the country's first time to have this device made available in India though as the Nextbit Robin was opened for pre-orders in India last year from its Kickstarter page. Those who were interested to purchase the handset were able to get it via shipping with $70 additional shipping charges. None of that international purchase will be necessary now as it will be conveniently available in India with an estimated price of Rs. 26,500. The Robin was sold in the U.S. for $399. And even though the company has not announced any specific launch date yet, fans can expect to pick up the device starting May already.
As for the specs and features of the device, India Today detailed that the Robin will be sporting a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with 1929 x 1080 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass for screen protection. Under the hood is a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. Its internal memory storage capacity is 32 GB but NDTV Gadgets noted that it cannot be expanded further. However, because of the cloud integrated into Android OS, the device can have unlimited storage. It can have 100 GB of free cloud storage space.
Moreover, the Nextbit Robin also carries a fingerprint scanner which doubles up as a power key and a USB 3.0 Type C connector. Its camera features are 13-megapixel primary camera at the rear and 5-megapixel secondary camera at the front. The device will be pre-installed with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and will come with a 2680mAh battery with Quick Charge support. Color options available include Mint and Midnight.
